ACR

The outlaw that never left America, pays in crypto, and still deals heads-up.

GGPoker

The reigning giant. More cash players than the next four networks combined.

The transatlantic duel · five rounds

ACR vs GGPoker, scored honestly

This duel is decided by a map more than any other on our card. Americas Cardroom built its whole identity on serving the country GGPoker cannot touch; GGPoker built the biggest room on earth out of everywhere else. Where both will take you, the five rounds get interesting.

Updated September 2026. Sources for the numbers are named in the text; where evidence is thin we say so.

ROUND I

Traffic

ACR

The flagship of the Winning Poker Network, the largest network still serving the United States. WPN does not report cash-game data to the public trackers; visible tournament volume ran around 56,000 daily MTT entries in the August 2026 tracking data, and the Venom series carries the biggest guarantees in US-facing poker. Peak hours follow the Americas, which suits expats in Canada and Latin America and means quieter mornings in Europe and Asia.

GGPoker

Roughly 9,600 average concurrent cash players in August 2026 (VIP-Grinders traffic report), more than the next four networks combined, with games at every stake around the clock and the WSOP calendar on top.

Round to GGPoker on the world stage, with the American footnote written in bold: in the United States this round is a walkover the other way, because GG does not show up to the fight.
ROUND II

Rake value

ACR

Straightforward where GG is elaborate: a flat 27% rakeback paid as cash is the standard deal, with an Elite Benefits ladder and rake races that reviewers calculate can push extreme-volume grinders toward a 60–65% effective return. Cash rake caps at $3, higher than WPT Global, comparable to the field.

GGPoker

Ocean Rewards publishes cashback tiers from roughly 24% up to 80%, with the standing asterisk: GG has historically adjusted rewards by how winning you are, and the machinery inside Ocean Rewards is not clearly documented. Casual players do well; strong winners should assume their true number is lower than the poster.

Round to ACR. A flat 27% in cash, paid without ceremony, is worth more than a taller ladder you cannot see the mechanism of. GG can beat it at the recreational extremes; ACR never surprises you.
ROUND III

Softness

ACR

An American recreational base that arrives through sports-betting culture and the Venom dream, playing at hours when the world’s grinders are asleep. HUDs and trackers are permitted, so the regulars who stay are well-armed. The heads-up and short-format lobbies still run, a rarity we cover in our heads-up guide.

GGPoker

The enormous casual crowd and the HUD ban keep the field softer than its size suggests, though its sheer visibility also attracts every professional on earth who can legally sit.

Round shared, stated honestly as a read. Nobody publishes softness data. The forums call ACR’s low-stakes pools among the softer regulated-adjacent games going, and GG’s handicapped-shark ecology achieves something similar by design.
ROUND IV

Trust

ACR

The honest ledger: an offshore licence rather than a national regulator, a public history of bot complaints that the network has answered with bans and refunds rather than silence, and DDoS attacks that disrupted major series in past years. Set against that, decades of actually paying Americans when leaving the market would have been easier, which is its own kind of track record.

GGPoker

A real bot problem met with credible enforcement (the January 2026 sweep banned 42 accounts and redistributed $1.2 million) under a licensing stack that includes the Isle of Man, Malta, the UKGC and national licences including Germany.

Round to GGPoker. ACR’s record is better than its reputation, but a UKGC-grade complaints path beats an offshore promise, however long kept.
ROUND V

Payouts

ACR

The crypto room before it was fashionable: dozens of coins accepted, and crypto withdrawals routinely processed within hours once verified. For players in countries where cards fail on gambling transactions, this is the smoothest rail in the game. Traditional methods exist and are slower.

GGPoker

Cards, Skrill, Neteller, Luxon and a full crypto rail with a 1% withdrawal fee. Reliable and broad, with KYC tiers gating the limits, and a regulator standing behind the process in licensed markets.

Round to ACR, narrowly. On pure speed and crypto depth ACR wins; GG’s breadth and regulatory backstop keep it close. Where you hold the duel decides how much each matters.

The verdict, by player

The recreational player: GGPoker on points where you can have it, for the games always running and the spectacle; ACR if crypto is how your money moves anyway. The winning grinder: ACR, quietly. A flat 27% you can verify, HUDs allowed, and payout speed measured in hours is a professional’s toolkit; GG’s bigger pool comes with an opaque tax on exactly your kind of player. The tournament player: GGPoker for the WSOP calendar, ACR for the Venom and for fields that play looser than their buy-ins. The heads-up player: ACR, walkover; it is one of the last rooms anywhere that keeps the format alive.

The expat verdict

The map rules everything here. In the United States, GGPoker cannot take you and ACR is the biggest game in town: walkover. In the UK, Germany and most of GG’s licensed markets, the positions reverse in spirit: GG operates under a national licence while ACR’s acceptance runs through offshore terms, and the grey-market question is yours to weigh. Both rooms are unavailable in Australia, like every room on our card. In Canada, Ireland or New Zealand both will genuinely take you, and the five rounds above decide. Country lists move; the room’s own eligibility check is the only current answer, eligibility follows where you live, not your passport, and a VPN is a terms breach that puts your balance at risk on either site.
